June ~ Let the Summer Fun Begin!

Thinking back to June...it was full of swimming lessons, and lots of fun with friends at splash pads, pools, at home, birthday parties, and other indoor places to stay cool!

Preschool ended and kids started swimming lessons. Audrey did lessons 4 days a week for 6 weeks, all in the "Otters" class. She developed a fear of the deep end (any water she can't stand up in) and would not swim by herself when she was moved over into the deeper water. This will be the hardest class for her to pass. She has to swim 10 yards to and from her teacher by herself. She'll start with "Otters" next year. Or we may move to a more private setting for lessons since she'll be turning 6 next summer. Owen did 2 weeks in a Parent/Tot class, just to see how it went. He loved it and is a daredevil around the water! Much as Audrey was at his age. I did not get any pictures of them at swimming this year.

We did the Harkins Summer Movies again this year on Tuesday mornings. $7 for 10 movies is the best deal, and a cool activity to do! Owen even joined us for the last 2 movies {he did ok}.

Some Thursdays we would head out to the mall for Kids Club. A fun little show with singing and dancing, and each week a different theme.

We went to the Children's Museum of Phoenix with cousin Jay, Abuelita (my mom), and some friends. (Remember you can click on pictures for larger view.)

Audrey attended some 1 day classes of "Bug Camp" at Cute as a Bug Preschool. (Preschool a friend of Audrey's attended.) She went to these classes: Ladybugs, Butterflies, Insects & Arachnids of Arizona, and a new class she tried this summer--the Fancy Nancy Soiree! She came home with lots of ladybugs that we let go out in our plants, and a caterpillar she named "Rapunze
l" that we watched turn into a butterfly. (My favorite part of science when I taught 2nd grade!)

Letting Rapunzel Go

A couple of firsts:
**Audrey had her first friend sleepover! Erica came and the girls played and play
ed, watched a movie and had popcorn, and the next morning they met some of their other Girly Girlfriendz at Fancy Nancy Soiree. (I can't find the cute pictures Ms. Cheri sent me of the girls all fancy!!! Oh no!!!)

**Audrey tried out bowling with her friend Ella from preschool. We took the girls to Brunswick right across the street from our neighborhood because kids get a free game
of bowling every day in the summer! She loved it! She was getting tired about the 8th frame, but she really liked it. Paired with some games at the arcade there too, it was a fun morning. (The pictures I got of the girls together came out really blurry. :o/ )

**Owen wore his first little suit to church, Abuelita bought it for him.
{And Audrey decided she too of course would model a church outfit Abuelita bought her.}

**Something parents will understand, this month after almost 5 years of keeping our front "formal" living & dining room free of children's stuff...it happened. Owen knows how to open doors now and could not stay away from Audrey's fun art desk in her room. Since Audrey can't open the child proof door handles, it moved into the corner of the dining room. No more kid-free zones at our house.
