- Summer ended {well, maybe not weather wise here in AZ} and August started out busy around here, and didn't really slow down! I am the chairperson for the Hospitality Commitee on the PTSO for Audrey's school this year. We are in charge of food-based events for teachers, staff and sometimes the parents. The first things on our agenda were a breakfast and lunch for the staff's first day back to school on August 3rd. It was just like planning a party, easy to plan, and then you freak out the day before because you're buying everything and having to set it all up, etc. I was at school that day from 6:30am-3:30pm. That was actually longer than some of the teachers! But I admit it was better than being in meetings all day, I remember those days! I also spent that Saturday helping to stuff 750 folders for the kids' first day back. We had help, so it only took a few hours. We went to dinner after with some of the other moms and their kids.
- 2nd week in August was a big one. I had teacher training for my job. I'm working at Yad B'Yad Preschool in Tempe. I taught here from Dec. '08-July '09 in the 3/4 year old class and Audrey was in the 2s class. Each summer since I resigned I just see what pops up, some years it's subbing and some years it's teaching preschool. This summer a position in the 2s class was available and since Owen is at a great age for preschool, I jumped on it. It's nice to have a steady schedule {I work MWF} and a steady paycheck to help out around here. Subbing is nicer in certain ways, but I know Owen is loving preschool and I miss having my own class, etc, so it's nice for me too. Even if it's more work than subbing.
- Audrey started 1st grade on August 8th!
- Owen {& I} started preschool the following Monday, August 13th! He was bummed at first when he found out the preschool wasn't at the same place as Audrey's school. But he's used to it now and really loves it. If you ask him about "school", he always corrects you..."I go to preschool".
Both kiddos are enjoying school/preschool, and I'm enjoying my little class as well. I was a little bummed that they were not older, since that is the preschool age I'm used to work with, but my little ones are doing really well. We even do Circle Time for 10 minutes some days! That's big for 2 year olds!
I always feel bad that Paul isn't in a lot of my blog posts. Poor Papa! He is still working hard as electrical foreman. He worked A LOT of overtime this summer, so he was gone a big more than usual. He works so hard to support our family, we're so blessed to have him. Don't worry though, he does get time with the kids...and he's a great Papa! The sacrifices he & I make so that I am able to not work full-time are definitely worth it. I have my whole life to work full-time, but my kids will only be small for a short while. So all the fun things you see here, even if Paul isn't in the pictures, it's because of him that we're able to do all these things!
