Audrey's 4th Birthday

On July 29th, Audrey, my mom (who's birthday is the 30th), and I spent a "girly" day together for their birthdays. Audrey got her toes and nails painted, while my mom & I had pedicures. Then we met up with the rest of the family for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. For dessert we tried their new Reese's Peanut Butter Cup cheesecake, we LOVED it!

When your birthday is in July--in Arizona, during monsoon season--the choices for what to plan for a child's birthday party are pretty slim. For Audrey's1st Bday we had a party of family and friends at home. Only a few of my friends had kids, so it was mostly adults. We just had food, talked, and played with the kids. By the time her 2nd bday came around we had made lots of friends through our Moms' Group so we knew lots of kids. We had a "Dance Party" with a lady who played music, sang and involved the kiddos. For year 3 I was super preggo and didn't want to deal with all the hard work, so I found an awesome deal and we had it at a bounce place.

This year we had an outside party for the first time. We got SUPER lucky and had it in the yard of
MorningStar Academy. (AKA Ms. Ginger's gorgeous, spacious backyard. Thanks for offering!) We put up the water slides, a wacky sprinkler, and there was already a nice play area for the kids because of the preschool. It had stormed the night before and a bit that morning, but come party time it was just fine. A little humid, but since it was a bit overcast all day and the yard shaded by trees it was not bad at all! We didn't really have a theme, but Audrey did pick Strawberry Shortcake table ware so we had pink and green stuff. We even had strawberry cupcakes made by Miss Jamie, some baked in ice cream cones. YUMMY!!! Everyone had fun!
