On Saturday, the 8th, I decided to brave the heat and take Audrey to Starry Safari at the Phx Zoo. It was from 6-9pm so it would be cooler, and as it turned out, it was pretty much the coolest evening all summer! Paul was going to a race and Randee was working, so Jay & Paul joined us. We visited some animals like the orangutans, Monkey Village, otters, giraffes, but mostly the kiddos just enjoyed playing at the two water playground areas. They didn't want to do the bounce houses or big inflatable water slides, so we stuck to stuff on the ground.
Last Monday, we took Audrey to her first AZ Diamondbacks baseball game. She lasted the whole game (so did I), but of course it included Paul taking her to the bathroom a few times and even a little walking around to a little play area they have. Oh, and some tasty kettle corn and a stash of Starbursts she found in her bag. We had good seats because Paul did a side job and got 4 tickets for two games in exchange. My favorite pictures of the game are the ones Audrey took herself, she's become quite the photographer these days. (AKA I have to delete about 40 pictures every time I transfer them to my computer!) I especially like the one of baby Owen (my big belly) and of her and Owen (her head on my belly). Click on the picture collage to enlarge.

On Friday, we met some friends from our moms group at the splash playground in Tempe. It was pretty hot and muggy (couldn't be overcast like it was the whole day before) and I think we stayed too long for me. I was feeling pretty yucky the whole day/night afterward. Audrey requested a couple pictures be take of her "taking a shower."
Saturday we went to Jump & Shout for another fun event with my moms' group. No pictures, but Audrey had way too much fun jumping, bouncing and climbing all around that place. She has always been such a good climber.
Between all that, I've washed all of Owen's clothes/blankets/sheets and now his dresser and closet are ready. Paul got down all the big baby stuff (car seat, bouncer, swing, bassinet/play yard) and I washed that stuff too. I packed Owen's diaper bag and now just need to finish packing my hospital bag and a little bag for Audrey, as she'll most likely be staying the night somewhere when Owen comes. People keep asking me if Audrey understands that a baby is coming. While I can't know for sure, it seems like it. At least as much as a 3 yr old can understand. From the beginning she's talked to Baby Owen, kissed him, hugged him and recently started singing to him. The other day she said "Baby Owen, you're so pretty." I said he was more handsome or cute becuase he's a boy and she said "Oh, okay." I think as far as she's concerned he is already here, just not out of Mama's belly yet. She knows which stuff is his and helps when I'm putting things away. Of course once he's here things will change, but for right now, I believe she is very excited for her baby brother.
In case you were wondering, I am officially 9 months/36 weeks as of the 15th. I had an appt yesterday and I'm 2cm dilated and 75% effaced. Dr. guesses he'll come a week early just like Audrey. I'm guessing (hoping) for maybe 2 weeks early! ;o) I'll get a 9 month belly picture this week...you would not believe how big this kid is! At one of my appts the dr joked that my belly was sticking out so much that he'd have to make a right turn to get out of there. That's pretty accurate on how I feel!

You're way too prepared, Lisa. Getting baby stuff down and cleaning it off, washing the bedding and clothes, packing Owen's diaper bag? Take it easy! What's the fun if there's no mad dash in the final moments? ;)
Hey! I am having a pampered chef party and I want to invite you! Is it ok if I get your email to send you an evite? I will totally understand if you are not up for coming :)
You ARE so prepared! I haven't done any of that yet. Yikes - I better get a move on. Dr. says I am 70% effaced but only "a dimple" dialated. I hope she comes right on time (or maybe a little late!) so I can get everything I need to get done. (P.S. Did I just curse myself by actually writing that I want her to come a little late?!) :) Hope you are feeling well!
