End of the School Year ~ May 2014

Alison ~ A sweet friend of mine, Katie, asked if I would like to have Alison participate in a photo shoot for her business. {Check out Vintage Rose Wraps.}  I thought that would be fun, especially since Audrey participated in a photo & video shoot for her a couple years ago.  {I thought that I would have had a post about that, but I can't find one.  So there are a couple pictures of Audrey in June 2012 and a link to the promotional video she was in at the end of this post.}  Now Audrey was almost 6 when she did the photo shoot for Katie, and Alison was just about to turn 14 months.  And wasn't walking yet.  And doesn't particularly like strangers. And is very attached to me.  I should have seen the recipe for disaster.  The photo shoot started with lots of escape attempts and crying.

I felt pretty bad, since Alison was the only "baby".  But the other younger girls did great and got some sweet shots for her.  And there were lots of girls of all ages, so it's not like Alison ruined the shoot or anything.  I just wish they could have gotten some cute shots of her.  But once the cameras and attention were off her, she was fine.  She liked playing in the 'glamper' they had on the set and checking out the teepee on her own.

Alison was happy and one of the photographers noticed and came back to try and grab some shots, but all Alison would make is her little "pucker up" face.  This is the shot she got.  The only one of her looking at the camera and it's this one.  Silly girl.

Here's a collage Katie put together of some of the shoot, Alison is in it, but not looking at the camera.  But it showcases the product and that was the point!

Owen ~ He had fun taking a beginners tumbling class from March-May thorough Gilbert Parks & Rec.  He loved having preschool at home, but is excited to go to the "big school" like Audrey.  He doesn't make the cut off date of Sept. 1st for Kindergarten, and even though it's only by 9 days, I am not a fan of putting kids in early.  For parental reasons knowing it is best for Owen and his personality, and reasons that stem from being a teacher in 2nd/3rd grade when things start to catch up with the younger kids in class.  He will be going to a Kindergarten Prep class half days next school year, not at Audrey's school but another Gilbert school very close by.

Yes, I know it looks like he shrunk...but I had to redo everything after our water leak,
so I didn't know exactly where it was, obviously.  But he did grow, in more ways than one!

Audrey ~ 2nd grade is complete, on to 3rd!  She continues to do well in school and loves it.  We are so thankful for that!  She had 2 teachers doing a job share this year and it worked out great.  She did an end of the year project on a famous American and she was so excited to get her first choice of Pocahontas.  She earned all possible points on her project, with very minimal help from me besides getting her to websites for information.  I have to brag about Audrey when we got her test scores in the mail from the SAT 10 test.  She only missed 6 problems all the whole test, all 3 areas combined.  :o)  She was tested for the gifted program again this year, but didn't make it.  She keeps missing it by points in one area only.  But that's ok, maybe some day.  And if not, that's ok too!

---------------Here are the pictures and link to video Audrey was in that I mentioned above.------------

This is a cute picture, this is the first clip in the video that you will see Audrey in.

Lisa ~ I survived my first school year of in-home preschool with 6 kids and childcare for 1 kid all year & another who came during school breaks.  It was fun!  Also, the day before Mother's Day I decided it was time to donate my hair again.  3rd time!

Paul ~ May 27th Paul turned 38!  He stays busy operating the Service Dept of SEC Electrical Contractors.  He works hard and then plays hard with the kids!  Along with his little adventures, he takes the kids to the kids' workshops offered by Home Depot and Lowe's on Saturday mornings.  He also lets me sleep in on Saturdays & Sundays and manages the kids, breakfast and all.  :o)

One of many adventures! This one to Picacho Peak. (this was in Feb. but I don't think I posted it.)
