Starting Off 2014

After our Winter Break road trip to TX ending with 3 sick kids, we were glad when everyone was better and back into the normal routine with school starting up again.  We made it through one week of school & in-home preschool before we discovered a water leak.  Turns out it was behind our master bathroom sink, which is on the other side of my "preschool wall".  There was tearing out of carpet, 3 days of loud fans to do the dry out, and a total of 5 weeks of sleeping on the couch for Paul & me.  The leak was a slow one, so it had been leaking for some time and mold was found.  Even though it took soooo long to get everything finished, it was nice to have a mini-home makeover.  We were able to get new carpet throughout the house, add more tile in our hallway instead of carpet, and got all the rooms painted that we hadn't ever gotten to...the family room--now kids' play room/preschool room, kitchen, hallway and our bedroom.  We also couldn't have preschool for those 5 weeks either.

During this time I turned 34! Paul & I got a date night, which is rare, so we went to dinner and to the Desert Botanical Garden at night to see the Chihuly exhibit.  I had seen it last time it was here years ago and knew I had to go again.  I was happy when I found a Groupon to the DBG as well as one to a yummy place to eat close by.

Even though our house was still not all the way back together, January ended on a good note with a special event.  The Gilbert Temple Open House Tour.  It was pretty amazing.  The kids were so good and they enjoyed it too.

By mid-February, our house finally got all put together and was then filled with Girl Scout cookies!  Orders and deliveries and the temptation not to eat them all!  Of course it was easy not to eat them at $4/box! We actually racked up a good amount because we treated a few of the guys working on our house.

Cookies are here!

Bagged, Thank you tagged and ready for delivery!

That's a lot of empty cookie boxes!
