September 3rd Owen had his first day of preschool. Since we have Alison at home too we are doing in-home preschool with 5 other kids. He really loves having preschool at home. Since he is a September birthday and the cut off here in August 30th, he actually has a whole other year after this for preschool. Next year I am hoping to put him in the preschool program at our neighborhood school where Audrey attends. He really needs the time away from me! He gets all his shyness from me that's for sure, and he has always been a "Mama's Boy." He knows his letters, numbers, colors, shapes and writes his name. Which is nothing new because he knew all of this last year when he went to Yad B'Yad Preschool where I worked. Now he knows the sounds of all the letters and loves to ask how to spell things. He sounds out words already and I am almost positive he will be reading before he turns 5 next year, a whole year before he goes to Kindergarten. Keeping up with Audrey is fun for him. Plus, she likes to "teach" him too. Here are some fun pictures from preschool.

September 10th Owen turned 4 years old! It was his year for a family party, so we just had a regular Sunday dinner with more family members and, of course, cake! He wanted a "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" cake and that's what he got. Added a couple fun pirate toys and a banner and Owen loved it.

At the end of September Owen went camping with Paul for Fathers' & Sons' with church. Owen loves camping! He got to take Mr. Owl with him. {Mr. Owl is our preschool friend who takes turns going home with the kids and having adventures with them.} Paul got the cutest pictures of this trip, but they are on his phone. I thought he downloaded them, but I can't find them on the computer. :(
All Star Sports class was another fun thing Owen did from August-October. Each week they played a different sport. He has taken this class before but was in the age group where he was the oldest. This time around I put him in with kids where he was on the younger side. I think it was good for him to be challenged to keep up with the older kids. We are hoping to sign him up for a sport in the Spring...maybe T-ball or Soccer.
Exciting news for Owen is that he can ride his bike without training wheels now! Just 1 year since Audrey learned last November at 6 years old (and about a year and a half after riding with training wheels)...and Owen is only 4! We kind of knew this would happen. Audrey could barely reach the petals on her little tricycle at age 3, so she rode that a lot longer. Owen outgrew the same tricycle way before he turned 3 and that is when he got a bicycle with training wheels. Ok, so I can't find the video I got of him...so here is the link to the one I put on facebook. It says everyone should be able to view it, even if you're not on facebook. I guess we'll see if it works!
Owen is a great big brother and just loves Alison. Sometimes a little too much, he thinks he is bigger than he really is, and that Alison is bigger than she really is. But overall this sweet boy just loves his baby sister and his big sister. He and Audrey are definitely in a funny sibling place. They are either fighting with each other or seem to be getting along "thick as thieves"...those 2 kids sure try to be sneaky sometimes. But sometimes the fact that they are just getting along with each other is enough for me to just let them be, even if they are doing something mischievous. My favorite Owen moments are catching Owen holding hands with Alison in the car and listening to him and Audrey play sweetly together.
