Her Birth Story...
Baby Tres's official due date was 3/13/13. It worked out perfectly to be right during my Spring Break from teaching preschool. I planned that I would make it all the way to the last day of work before Spring Break which was March 8th. This was even more important because it was my class's turn to do a performance during the Friday Shabbat.
At my doctor's appt on Thursday, March 7th I had made really good progress and Dr guessed we'd have a baby before the weekend was over. I was sure hoping! But figured I had made it this far, I just wanted to make it through that last day of work! We decided to go walking Thursday night, which seemed to be a trigger in the labor of my other 2 kiddos.
6:45am I woke up on Friday, March 8th feeling a little...strange. I don't know how to explain it. I wasn't having real contractions, but I didn't feel "normal" {whatever that is at 39 weeks pregnant}. I was running extra slow that morning because of it, but made sure to grab the hospital bags for baby and myself...just in case.
9:00am-1:00pm Work
1:20pm. Owen & I hopped in the car and I sent Paul a text saying that I had made it through my work day, but felt kind of yucky the whole day. Then I started driving home and I had a contraction, a real one. I hadn't even gotten half way home and had about 3 or 4 more. I didn't want to wait as long as I did with Owen to go to the hospital, so I called Paul and said it was time. He left work right away.
1:45pm Audrey had an early release day and was at a friend's house, so I picked her up and when we got home all I could do was sit and wait for Paul. The kids wanted to take pictures, which I wasn't really in the mood for--since I was having contractions about 3-5 minutes apart, but now I'm glad because I have these last baby bump pictures to treasure!
3:15pm We arrive at the hospital, answer a bunch of questions while having contractions 3-4 minutes apart...seriously, I don't know WHY they do this. It's not like I'm going to have the baby and run out the door before they get my information. Anyway...hang out in triage for a bit and be monitored.
4:15pm Officially admitted to the hospital and moved to the delivery room.
4:30pm Get epidural! YAY!!!
5:00pm Hang out and use "the peanut" to get closer to delivery.
6:15pm Officially ready for delivery, just waiting for the Dr to come and break my water.
6:41pm Water breaks on it's own, still waiting for the Dr.
6:50pm Dr arrives, start pushing.
7:20pm Baby Tres Arrives!!!
What a cooperative girl! Literally waited until I was finished working that last day before Spring Break and 6 hours later, she was here!!! Everything was smooth and fast and no complications. So grateful for our 3rd miracle!
Random notes of interest (mostly to me, that is why I am writing it down!)...
Alison is our "in-betweener". Her birth weight was more than Audrey, less than Owen. Her length was more than Audrey, less than Owen. She arrived at 39 weeks, 2 days which was after Audrey came, but before Owen. Owen was an afternoon baby, Alison was an evening baby and Audrey came after a night in the hospital and arrived in the morning.
Alison stayed at the hospital just over 24 hours after being born, with the other 2 kids we were there for 3 nights/4 days due to minor issues each had.
I was hoping that "3rd times the charm" would be the case here and my actual doctor would deliver the baby. With Audrey he was out of the country doing charity work for a month so I had seen the CNP and one of the other 2 doctors in the office. Of course the Dr I had NOT seen ended up delivering Audrey. With Owen came around there was a new Dr at the office and of course, she ended up being the one to deliver Owen. This time around there is yet another new Dr at the office and I was sure she would be the one to deliver Alison since she was the only one I hadn't met yet. True to form though, my Dr was not on call, but the Dr that delivered Audrey was. But he was off at 6pm and then a Dr not even in their office was on call for them. So, another Dr I had never met delivered Alison. At least it kept in the theme.
