Baby Tres Update

Since the beginning of this pregnancy I tried to convince Paul that we should make it a surprise and not find out the gender.  Just like in the movies when they have a baby and the doctor shouts, "It's a -----!"  How exciting, right?  I mean we have one of each already, we still have all the big baby gear, and we have a niece and nephew that are almost 18 months ahead in age and can pass on baby clothes to us!  But Paul would not go for it, not even think about it!  He said it would bother him too much to know that someone else would know the gender {yeah, the ultrasound tech that we'll likely never see again} and he wouldn't.  I still tried up until a few weeks ago and realized he wouldn't give in.  And to be honest, as it got closer to the date of my ultrasound, I was getting excited to know too!  Had he been on board for a surprise, I think we could have done it.  But since that wasn't an option I found myself wanting to know even more.

So, it's been a house divided on wishes/guesses for the gender of Baby Tres.  Audrey wished for a baby sister and Owen said he "needed" a baby brother.  After an early ultrasound at 9 weeks I had to break it to them that there was only one baby in there.  So, in preparation for the day when we'd find out the gender, I've been trying to explain to the kids that it's already been decided what our family needs, another boy or girl. We've waited longer than we had hoped, but a baby has finally been sent to us and Heavenly Father knows what he's doing. :o)smile We just pray for the baby to have everything it needs to grow and be healthy, and stay inside Mama long enough to get everything a baby needs. Audrey has since changed her feelings a little by saying things like "I'd like a sister, but I really just care about the baby." Owen on the other hand has said that he could NOT love a baby sister. He still "needs" a brother. Once Audrey said something like, "Maybe it should be a boy, I think Owen needs if more." If it is a boy, he'll be happy, but then I'll have to figure out how to convince him we're not naming him after 'Thomas the Train'.

Today, Oct. 18th was the big day.  We crowded into the ultrasound room and got some good pictures, the tech had no problem finding out the gender.  Almost too soon, as she forgot to ask us before it popped up on the screen.  She was fast though, so we didn't spot it before she asked.  Now for the pictures that some like to see and others don't care for much, but I'm "that" pregnant lady so I'm going to show them...

We saw Baby Tres's feet,

and arms,
and hands,

and legs,

and spine,

and a cute profile,

most importantly saw & heard the precious heartbeat!

We got a couple nice 3D views too...
For your information all the measurements and info on body parts, etc came back normal and baby is right on track, weight is 11oz and due date moved up a day since my last ultrasound to 3/10/13, so I'll take it!  Dr still has it as 3/13/13, but that's ok.  Still a due "week" of Spring Break here in AZ.       Oh, but we can't forget the most important picture...
Audrey and Owen are going to have a baby SISTER!!!  So, Audrey & Paul were right--they guessed girl.  Audrey was all smiles at the news.  Owen just kept telling us "No" every time we told him he was getting a baby sister.  But just over an hour later when we were asking him if he was going to have a baby sister he smiled and said "Yeah!"  Maybe it was the ice cream sundae he had afterward that changed his mind that another sister wouldn't be so bad.  We're very excited and now The Name Game has been cut in half, so we'll see what we decide on!
