Audrey's Dance Performance
Today was was the end of Audrey's 10 week dance class and so they put on a little show. They had three dance types to perform: Tap, Hip Hop/Jazz, & Ballet. I have at some point during the 10 weeks actually seen Audrey do the dances while peeking in the window. I have also seen her putting her own spin on the dances, and even just hanging out watching the other girls at times. At home when I would ask her to show me the dances she was working on she always refused. So, I wasn't sure what she would do today. They performed each dance twice, in hopes that one of them would at least be good. Well, at first she did nothing. That's right, nothing. She wanted to go home and she didn't want anyone to come watch her dance show. I tried a few bribes like going to the park after or a lollipop when we got home. She would at first agree and get back in her line. She'd look at all the adults then come back and say, "I don't want to go to the park/eat a lollipop. No thank you." The first dance number, tap, was a bust. I got her to dance a little for the hip hop/jazz routine by telling her I wouldn't watch. I covered my eyes and just used my camera to record her. It worked a little, but it didn't help that she decided to cover her eyes too. Then I did a bad thing, I bribed her with gum. I do not give her gum, so this worked. Her second attempt at the hip hop/jazz routine was better. For the ballet routine she decided to move to the other side of the room. She did dance, but was behind another girl the whole time so of course it was hard to see her. She was not the only one who danced on and off, in fact one little girl stood/sat still for the entire performance. They are only 3 & 4 years old, so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect...but I was amazed at the stage fright she had because she's so outgoing. I guess that's the part of me in her! Of course we all thought they were so cute and we were so proud of them!

Here are a couple videos of the best dancing I was able to bribe her to do. (Remember if you get these posts by email you have to come to the actual site to play the videos.)

Hip Hop/Jazz Routine, take 2Ballet RoutineWe'll try some other dance classes in the future. She really does love to dance. Next I decided to sign her up for 12 weeks of a tumbling class. Same teacher...I hope she doesn't mind! (The teacher that is!)
