1st Quarter of Kindergarten

Audrey has been in Kindergarten for a full 9 weeks now...the 1st Quarter ended on October 7th. We had our first Parent/Teacher Conference on the 20th. And I have to say it was VERY nerve wracking to be on the opposite side of the table for once! Now I know how all my students' parents felt!

For the 1st Quarter
Kindergarteners only get marks for Work Habits & Social Behaviors and Participation grades for Specials: Art, Music & PE. Audrey received all '3s' for Work Habits & Social Behaviors {Scale of 1-4, 3=Meets/Demonstrates Skills Often, 4=Exceeds/Demonstrates consistently}. We were very happy with this and I explained to Paul that you very rarely, almost NEVER give all 4's on the first report card to a student. Need a little something to work up to! She also got all 'Ps' for her Specials classes...which means Participates appropriately in activities. {The only other choice is 'N' for Needs to participate more often.} As far as how she's doing academically, she's right where she should be and is even in the higher areas of Reading and Math. She LOVES to write and you can always find little notes and papers all around the house. She has great phonetic spelling. The only thing we're working on is her letter reversals. It's more common with leftys and usually just seems to go away, but we're still working on it. Especially when she reverses the 'd' in her name...we have some papers done by a little girl named AuBrey. ;o)

Mrs. Fox reported that Audrey is a self-starter who takes pride in her work. She loves to get things done and do them well. She is engaged in all activities and is an eager student who loves to learn. The only thing we have to work on is that she's a talker. Yes, MY daughter, a talker! I never would've guessed! Mrs. Fox loves how Audrey is so friendly with everyone and is really so "matter-of-fact" about things. All in all, this is pretty much how we hoped it would go. Looking forward to the next one to see how much she's grown.

Here's Audrey first school picture, I wanted her to do retakes. Even after practicing at home she still did her "cheese" smile. But she really loved it and Paul did too. Honestly, this really is our Audrey.
