Teacher Appreciation Week

When I taught elementary school in Mesa, Teacher Appreciation Week meant that my principal & asst. principal would usually go classroom to classroom serving teachers some kind of breakfast item, like bagels or muffins and juice. I don't remember much else. My school was not the kind where we got a different gift card each day of the week (heard about this at a school in East Mesa) or were flooded with gifts from our students/families. They just couldn't afford it. I never thought much of it, it was all I knew. For the past 3 years of Teacher Appreciation weeks I've been teaching private preschool...very different!

This past week I {and other MorningStar Academy teachers} received a yummy lunch from Oregano's, a bouquet of flower
s, a mini-rose plant, candles, lotion, handmade flower pin, a key chain, a certificate for a pedicure, gift cards, and an overflowing amount of cards and pictures from our sweet kiddos! If you've read some of my other posts you will notice that we were also spoiled for Christmas and our birthdays, teacher appreciation week was no different. We have the sweetest, most generous families!!!

Here is the li
ttle tin that the key chain came in and a close up of the key chain--already on my keys! A classic teacher poem was on the front (that always makes me cry), we all thought there were mints inside, but opened up to find a cute key chain (for 2 of us, the other 2 got little necklaces with an apple and their name). This has got to be the cutest!!!! Side note--my only other key chain is a Brighton one I received from my families when I taught at the Jewish preschool in '09.

Now when it came time for me to think of a gift for the other teachers (since Audrey is a student too), I did what I do...searched some blogs. I used these cute ideas I found:

You deserve some chocolate!
{what teacher doesn't???}

My teacher is AW-some!

You are "scent"-sational!

"Teachers {like YOU} are
ESSENTIAL!
Thanks for enhancing Audrey's life every day!"
(This one was ALL me...I got the idea in the store when I walked by the Vitamin Water.
So proud of myself for my own original, cheesy idea!
)

Cards Audrey wrote for each teacher about why she loves them.

"I love Ms. Ginger because she grows pink roses."
"I love Ms. Michella because she reads to me."
"I love Ms. Jamie because she has awesome work to do."

Happy Teacher Appreciation week to all you teachers out there! We all know that a smile, hug, high-five, or an "A-ha!" moment from the kids is what we live for! Anything extra is just icing on the cake.
