A new year, a new blog background and header. It would be embarrassing to tell you how long it took me to do that header, but isn't it cute?
We rang in the new year by sitting on the couch in our pjs. Which is what we've done almost every day since then. The report from the kiddo's dr appt on the 30th was Audrey had a sinus infection, so the drainage was causing all her coughing which was keeping her from sleeping at night. We had been doing steam showers and the humidifier, so with that and then her antibiotics she was able to sleep again. She never acted sick in the day, just had a little cough. Owen's cough, sore throat and fever (which he of course didn't have when we were actually at the office) were due to teething, yes my 3.5 month old is teething. I knew it! Dr was mostly worried it would turn into an ear infection so gave us a script so we wouldn't be stuck going to urgent care over the holidays when their office was closed.
When Owen's fever came back and was 100-102 off and on for 24 hrs we went ahead and filled it. So New Year's Eve and New Year's Day Paul & I took care of our sick kiddos, and we weren't feeling so hot ourselves. Probably mostly due to sleepness nights. Saturday and Sunday Owen's cough was worse. Sunday he woke up at least once an hour with a little coughing fit. We'd have to hold him straight up until he was done and calm again. This was the most tiring night so far--and when you've already been sleeping with baby propped in a boppy pillow between you, and an occasional 3 year old added in the mix, those don't make for comfortable nights anyway.
Yesterday, I took Owen back to the dr to check his ear and see if anything else was going on. Well, dr could tell he did have an ear infection, but that the antibiotics worked and it was almost all cleared up. But now he had a sinus infection to add to the drainage he already had from the drooling and runny nose from teething. So, new anitbiotics for Owen. He says that should be all cleared up by Thursday.
I thought they were both on the mend, but then who gets a fever last night? Audrey! She never had a fever to begin with! And Owen had been fever free since Saturday night. Of course this would happen after she is done with her antibiotics and I've made a return trip to the dr. We'll see what happens after at least 24 hours. I guess I better get used to this, it's probably very typical when you have more than 1 kid!
Hope your 2010 is off to a better start than ours!

The good thing is that things will get better when you start the year with two sick kids!
I hope they are doing better. I thought you lived in warm Arizona and didn't have these winter sick stuff.
Life is good and hard and good again through all the cycles of life. Enjoy the moments you have now. And then you can enjoy the moment later, too.
oh no! i hope they both start feeling better soon. that's no fun with it bouncing back and forth between them.
i was amazed at all the crumminess that teething causes. amazed in a bad way! :)
Our little ones seem to get sick all at the same time. Which, I'm glad that's the case and they are not sick intermittently. That way we just make one big exodus to the doctor. Ha! Sick kids is still no fun though.
